Reduce Warranty and Manual Clutter
Tip Tuesday – Mom Wisdom
What’s the Problem?
Warranties and manuals are piling up and taking up more space than they’re worth.
When you do need one, you can’t find it.
There’s a solution.
Warranties and manuals from appliances, tech tools, and equipment are 75% useless bulk.
Gather everything in a pile. Find the section that is in your language – rip it out. Recycle the rest.
You don’t need to know how to plug in your toaster in 20 different world languages – the one page in English is enough.
Work through the pile – ripping out and stapling the sections you need.
You should now have a fraction of the bulk.
Organize what’s left.
You can use an accordion file or a 3-ring notebook.
Lindsay, at Crazy Organized, has a great post on her warranty notebook system.
For advanced organizers and digital junkies, search for manuals online in PDF format and store them in your favorite cloud service.
Anything you can’t locate online can be scanned.
We keep our manuals in a shared Evernote folder. With Evernote Premium, PDF’s are searchable. Search capability makes it a breeze when we need to check on a problem.
